MERIDEN, KS | Jefferson Assembly of God

Our Story

Our story...

JAG Church began in an Ozawkie, KS living room, where believers were meeting for conversation, prayer, and bible study. Their hearts were set on seeing God raising a church that could fully display the life if Christ. In March 1978, they formally organized as Jefferson Assembly of God.

They took on our county's name because their vision was greater than any single community in the county. They dreamed of a fellowship that would carry a significant influence- countywide, regional- even national and global in impact.

They purchased the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden, and the fellowship of believers called "Jefferson Assembly" had a home. Under the leadership of its first pastors, Tom and Cindy Cole, the church improved those facilities and began to connect with Meriden and other surrounding communities.

During the 1980s, growth and connection continued as Pastors Bill and Nancy Roberts offered their leadership. The church facilities were enlarged, ministries grew, and the influence of "JAG Church" expanded beyond the known reaches previously imagined.

Expanding the vision...

In October 1989, Pastors Kent and Debbie Duncan were called to serve. The church continued to grow, and, in March of 2001, JAG Church relocated into the new facilities north of Meriden on Kansas Highway 4. The new location provided space, visibility, and accessibility for growth. Within a couple of years, the facility was paid for, and a new season of ministry began.

Now, it's time for yet another new season of ministry at JAG Church, where we represent a unique mix of "rural context with city access." Though our building sits in the middle of farmland, some 20,000 people reside within a 15-minute drive.  We believe that each one of them matters.

Each week, friends come from different communities around us. They come from over a half-a-dozen communities-including Perry, Meriden, Valley Falls, and the Kansas Capitol city of Topeka.  All people who want to be a part of the good work that God is doing are afforded opportunities to serve through this unique church. And we believe that good work has just begun!
